I saw a picture of another Pallet Kitchen Trash Bin and thought it was so cool that I just had to try to make one. I found some pallets and then had fun (not really) taking them apart.
How I made my Pallet Kitchen Trash Bin:
I sanded all my pallet wood down relatively smooth but left a little of the rustic texture. I built a simple box to dimensions that fit my kitchen (sorry, no DIY instructions – I just estimated). I mounted the door with two hinges and installed the remaining hardware – a door knob, magnet clip, and chain. The chain restrains the door when it’s open, so it doesn’t crash down to the floor. I stained most of the box a rich brown color but left the inset portion the natural pine color. I built a bottom to the door, so the trash bin has a place to sit, and reinforced it with triangular pieces of wood. I’m very pleased with how it came out.
